Lovers Rock : The Inspiration behind the Event
Like many of us, we search for fun but effortlessly cool things to do in the city. Maintaining a balance between entertainment, work, fitness, school, family, and social lives can be exhausting.
Lovers Rock is a meet up/date night alternative for singles and couples that are interested in finding new ways to incorporate fun, fitness, and social interaction. Bring your friends, your neighbor, your coworker, spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, crush, hell bring your mechanic! The goal of this event is to incorporate a few of those things in a creative new way. Discover new things about yourself, about the people you interact with, and meet new friends with like minded goals and interests.

Activity: Rock Climbing
After one of my favorite couples Natasha & Nicholas went rock wall climbing last Valentines Day, I came up with the idea to create an event around an activity most people would not even think to gravitate towards. Natasha & Nicholas had lots of fun all while testing their agility, communicating effectively, and learning something new about each other. When producing events, I love to create experiences that allow individuals the opportunity to try new adventures, explore untapped interests, and get your heart-rate going. In this event, you and your friend, partner or someone new, will complete activities and tasks together as one. One body. One mind. One spirit. Creating a sense of community is one of my goals in life and I hope this event does just that.
Theme: Sade
Sade has been an inspiration to me in so many ways. I lived in a performance art house where my sister's dance schedule dictated our life. While traveling to Florida for competitions or carpooling with her dance friends in the backseat, I would carry my cassette tapes/walk man/[insert new age product here] from one meet to the next. Music became my creative outlet and I would listen to all genres during our travels. I began to think I was Sade's long lost forgotten daughter in my head. Sade's soothing melodies would consistently be on repeat. And from time to time I, quietly, would perform her hits and try my hand at stage performance when no one was watching. When brainstorming with friends for an event theme, Sade's album titled Lovers Rock was the perfect song to capture the essence of this event. Like the album, in the event, each session will flow from one human sense to the next.
Event Rock Stars : YMCA // CommonTruce // Penny Brew
With the guidance of rock wall instructor, Chris Hall, guests will test their endurance, agility, tenacity, perseverance, balance and strength with the Rock Wall Climb. You will learn how to identify your obstacles, conquer them, and (added bonus) burn calories!
At the Body Scrub Lab by Helix Social, guests will have the opportunity to create and take home an amazing exfoliate scrub that will awaken and invigorate the senses.
In the Therapeutic Stretching Studio, certified massage therapist, Justine Hranicky, will teach simple massaging and stretching techniques to unwind, relax, and re-energize the mind and the body with her over 20 year knowledge of bodywork.
To conclude, CommonTruce Visionary, Darion Coleman, will facilitate discussions that focus on dating, relationship and effective communication. Light refreshments from Penny Brew will be provided at this time.
